End of Summer Activities in Hocking Hills

It may have felt like a long one this year, but the summer season is finally coming to an end. We know everyone loves summer, as the children are off from school and the warm weather lets you spend as much time outdoors as possible. Just because summer is over does not mean you cannot enjoy a vacation getaway to Hocking Hills. In fact, we recommend coming to visit at the end of summer so you can enjoy some wonderful activities without the big summer crowds. Take a look at some end-of-summer activities in Hocking Hills we think you will like in the area:

End of Summer Activities in Hocking Hills

One of the most popular summer activities here in the area is zip lining. This thrilling experience has you shooting down a rope course high up in the treetops. You are able to get in some incredible views while zipping down at high speeds. Zip lining is a very safe activity as you are secured in a safety harness to the ropes. Hocking Hills has a few different zip lining companies to choose from during your end of summer visit. Hocking Hills Canopy Tours always seems to be a local and visitor favorite and offers a world-class experience. They started the zip line trend here in Hocking Hills when they first opened in 2007. What makes their zip lining experience so special is having their rope courses right next to Hocking Hills State Park. You can see all of the incredible views of the park from up high! They offer a variety of different zip line courses letting you choose how fast you want to go. They also offer Segway tours in the area and trips to the infamous Rock Bridge. Even at the end of summer, we highly recommend reserving your zip line time in advance!

Visit Lake Logan Marina

It will still be warm at the end of summer here in Hocking Hills, so your trip should call for some lake time. More specifically, you should visit the Lake Logan Marina where you can take advantage of their exclusive boat rentals. Try out a kayak, canoe, pontoon, or paddle boat by the hour. The lake is beautiful to explore by boat and has plenty of activities too. Try your hand with fishing by getting all of the gear you need from the marina. Local fishing tours will take you to the best spots in the area to find yourself a big catch. There are also sunset cruises on the lake letting you take in the beautiful views as you relax.

Hocking Hills State Park

Of course, our biggest attraction in the area that you will want to see during your end of summer visit is Hocking Hills State Park. This local attraction is huge and deserves to be explored at your earliest opportunity. The park features several different areas that can be accessed from winding hiking trails. Many of the trails are relatively short and easy but provide incredible views. Some trails are also paved allowing wheelchairs, strollers, and leased dogs too. Areas such as Old Man’s Cave and Cantwell Cliffs offer stunning views of flowing waterfalls, caverns, natural rock bridges, and lush foliage. During the summer season, there can be thousands of people on the trails at Hocking Hills State Park. We recommend visiting the park at the start of your day to beat the crowds.

Kid Friendly Activities

Hocking Hills and Logan also have plenty of fun activities and attractions which are perfect for younger children. Try a round of mini golf located at Hocking Hills Mini Golf. This exciting course has wheelchair access and plenty of fun for everyone. It is open year-round, allowing end of summer visitors to enjoy a round or two. Also try out a thrilling game of laser tag over at Hocking Hills Laser Tag. This exciting laser tag venue lets you have all out battles with exciting missions to complete. A second location can be found over in Logan too. For a few quieter moments, Fox’s High Rock Farm is a nearby petting zoo where you can meet adorable animals up close to pet and touch. Young children will be especially thrilled seeing their favorite farm animals right in front of them. Entry into the farm is very wallet friendly and you can even purchase a cup of feed to give to the animals; they sure will be happy if you did!
