Day 2: Rock House Cave

A return or two to Hocking Hills State Park is well worth the effort when it comes to spelunking in Ohio. An afternoon spent at Rock House Cave is sure to be an inspiring event. This Ohio cave in Hocking Hills is very much reminiscent of a tunnel which is carved out of Blackhand Sandstone. Rock House Cave sits in the very middle of a cliff that rises 150 feet into the air and boasts dimensions that include ceilings 25 feet high. Guests can wander along the main corridor which runs 200-feet in length with a width of about 30 feet. Rock House Cave has long been a popular place to visit as it is considered some of nature’s finest work in the area with touches of gothic-inspired spires that make for a breathtaking sight.

Day 3: Old Man’s Cave

When you can’t imagine a caving experience that doesn’t include a cascade or two, be sure to head to Old Man’s Cave. A scenic trail leads the way to this destination that comes with plenty of history. The cave is named for the man that not only called this place his home during his lifetime but now calls it his final resting place. As an added benefit, it’s a mere 6-mile trek from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave, meaning if you’re looking to enjoy a return trip, it can all be done again with ease.
